肾小球硬化与动脉粥样硬化极为相似。实验表明:高脂血症可使肾组织内某些生物代谢紊乱、血液动力及流变学改变,导致并加重蛋白尿和肾脏病理变化,脂蛋白异常尤其是受到修饰的脂蛋白的出现,载脂蛋白的异常等亦可造成肾内泡沫细胞形成,脂肪物质异常沉积、促进肾小球硬化。此外,肾内脂肪酸的变化也可影响前列腺素的代谢及细胞膜的结构,加重肾脏损伤。因此,脂质代谢异常可能在肾小球进行性病变中起到重要作用。
