Trap bait has so far been the most commonly used method of surveying mosquito bites, but there are shortcomings in reflecting the actual danger of mosquito bites, as the data often come from investigators seizing their mosquitoes in a fixed location rather than performing routine activities. In May-September 1980, Tsu used a new method in Tsu City, Central Japan, relying on volunteer monitors to record in detail the mosquito-infested life in everyday life and to investigate the actual frequency of mosquito attacks by inhabitants. Seven monitors were selected, sending a daily record of requests to be completed on an hourly basis. Records include: When and where (indoor or outdoor) what kind of work
