OBJECTIVE: Smoking is an important cause of lung cancer. This paper discusses the relationship between the genetic polymorphisms of CYP1A1 and GSTM1 and the susceptibility to lung cancer, which are closely related to the activation and detoxification of the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in tobacco.
