【Abstract】Diagnosing learners’ learning style is meaningful for “student一centered” teaching mode and individualized teaching.But the teaching strategies based on the students’ learning style should gain the same attention.Seldom do researchers regard vocational high school art students as their subjects.Using Reid’s Perceptual Learning Style Survey as the research instrument, this paper viewed vocational high school art students as the subjects; the purpose is to find some effective strategies to teach art students of vocational high school well.

I.Leaning style of Vocational High School Art Students
American scholar Keefe thinks that learning style is the learner in the observation, communication and response to the learning environment of a relatively stable factor, it is working in reflecting the intrinsic reasons of learners’ behavior.Reid defines learning style as learners’ natural and habitual absorption and the learning skills of processing and storage of new information.So learning styles means a lot to learners and teachers.
The current English learning situation of Vocational High School Art Students is that many of them are poor at English and have no interests in English any more.The direct consequence is that the majority of them have given up learning English.All these lead to the destruction of enthusiasm of students and teachers.The teachers always ignore students’ learning style and take the whole class as the same.Based on the perception of learning style, Many educators, who research in this field, say that everybody has one of three basic ways to process the world: visual, auditory kinesthetic or tactile.Based on this, the author designed a questionnaire to research the learning styles of Vocational High School Art Students and the number of objects is 103.Choosing a sample of 60 randomly, different from other majors, the findings are that about 40 percent of students are visual learners, then is the auditory learner, and then the tactile learners, kinesthetic learners is the fewest.Another finding is that many of the students trend to like both visual learning and auditory leaning.In other words, their learning style is the mix of visual learning and auditory learning.
II.Reasons of their learning style
The reason is that art major students live in the world of lines, shapes and color.So they are more interested in specific thing than the abstract ones and gradually form the habit of visual learning.Why some students are not only visual learners but also auditory learners? That’s the special character of the arts students.They are different from other major’s students.We can’t treat different students with the same methods. III.Teaching strategies
Firstly, the educators should choose the proper teaching materials.This is the basic and is the most important.Secondly, use different strategies to different students.Since they have different learning styles, hierarchical teaching in the class is necessary.The premise is that teachers have known the learning style of every student very well and respect the individual difference.Thirdly, based on the findings, teachers should use PPT as much as possible.Using the audio-visual materials is also important.And in the process of teaching, it is a must for teachers to adopt flexible teaching methods.Teachers should also pay attention to the warming up, since we all know that warming up is the key to attract students’ attention.No matter the listening class, the reading class or the writing class, teachers should try their best to attract students by all kinds of teaching strategies which is fit for students’ learning styles.For example, the teacher can train the art students’ listening ability by screening some videos.Last but not the least, the diversity of evaluation is needed.Combining the summative assessment with formative assessment is important, especially the formative assessment which is aimed at promoting the development of students and creating opportunities for them to improve.
IV.Conclusion
As a teacher, we should recognize our students.Vocational High School Art Students’ poor ability at English deserves our reflection.To know the learning styles of students is important; only in this way can the teacher improve his teaching ability so that the teachers can teach students in accordance of their aptitude.
