国内外对工程岩体分类的研究,是从不同的工程需要出发.提出了以岩体强度和围岩稳定性为基础的各种分类方案,并由单一指标转向多因子、多参数的综合分类.如比尼阿夫斯基(Bieniawski)等提出节理化岩体地质力学分类,考虑八项参数,挪威巴顿(Barton)提出隧道支护设计的岩体分类,考虑六项参数;我国谷德振教授建立了”岩体结构”通用分类,并提出岩体质量系数(Z),考虑三项参数;以及多因子组合的工程岩体分类等,推动了岩体工程地质研究,朝着定量化发展,取得了进展.
