1949年解放前夕,我正在省立南平中学读高中。当时,物价暴涨,反动派抓丁、拉夫、派粮,苛捐杂税压得老百姓喘不上气,怨声载道苦不堪言。南平这小小的山城,公路上挤满溃逃的国民党军,军车上载着抢掠老百姓的财物和军需用品。市区街头,蒋军散兵公开抢掠市民的财物,在商店里强买强卖,还随意动手,拳打脚踢老百姓,吓得商家不敢开门营业。国民党军的野蛮行径,群众看在眼里,恨在心头。当时,流传民谣：“刮民党遭殃军,抓壮丁又拉夫。抢夺财物欺百姓,所到之处皆遭殃。热盼大军早解放,解救人民苦难中。”
