水资源--环境系统的复杂性和非结构化问题给合理地进行水资源--环境管理与决策带来了很大的困难。在简要介绍地理信息系统的基础上,重点阐述了用于解决复杂系统非结构化问题的水资源--环境管理决策支持系统(WEDSS)的组成与功能,以及水资源--环境管理决策支持系统的国内外研究现状和发展趋向。WEDSS是由数据库、模型库、知识库和用户界面组成,可以充分有效地利用庞大的各类信息。以往由于不同软件之间靠接口联接,运算速度较慢,目前新的紧密联接的决策支持系统正在开发研制之中。
