熊秉坤(1885—1969),原名祥元,又名炎炳,字载乾。江夏修元乡熊家湾人。早年因父亲早逝,家道中落,读书不成,乃入商店当学徒;曾在武昌平湖门一带码头做搬运工。后入湖北新军第八镇工程第八营当兵,升正目;1909年加入革命团体日知会。宣统三年(1911年)春,加入共进会,继雷振声之后担任共进会工程第八营营代表。至起义前夕,在营中发展会员200余人,任工程营革命军大队长。1911年(旧历辛亥年)10 Xiong Bingkun (1885-1969), formerly known as Cheung Yuan, also known as Yan Bing, the word contained dry.
