南川位于重庆市东南,全区林业用地面积180万亩,有林地面积达120万亩,森林覆盖率达43%。近年来,南川区林业局局长王中伦带领林业一班人,根据区委、区政府提出建设生态南川、打造笋竹基地80万亩为总体工作思路,提出了夯实一个基础(林业经济基础),抓好三个环节(立足资源抓发展、坚持不懈抓保护、瞄准市场抓开发)、突出两个重点(林业生态建设和林业产业化建设)、实现一个目标(绿山富民活行业、林业社会总产值突破15亿元)的林业产业发展新思路。计划到2015年新发展以金佛山方竹为主的笋用竹基地80万亩。建立和培植年产20万吨纸浆厂生产线复合型企业,以及年加工10万吨笋子的龙头企业2～4个,笋竹产业实现社会总产值10亿元。
