This article is the introduction of Schwartz’s book The World of Ancient Chinese Thought. He gives a synopsis of the relationship between ancient Chinese thought and contemporary interdisciplinary issues, and aims to highlight the diversity and tension within the Chinese culture. It reviews some of the major topics and controversies in the history of ancient Chinese thought and offers its own unique insights.
