Welding is widely used in the construction of the production and assembly areas. However, at present, there are few experimental studies on the performance of weld joints. For this reason, a series of first-grade butt-welded joint specimens (Q345 steel) were designed. Through the whole process of axial tensile test on the specimens, The ductility and load-bearing properties of the joints were compared and their results were compared with the tensile results of a complete set of base metal specimens of the same gauge size. The experimental results show that when the quality of the weld is ensured, the butt-welded joint enters into the yielding stage ahead of the parent metal, that is, the butt weld has a certain degree of influence on the elastic working performance of the component, but the ultimate strength can reach Base metal strength. In addition, the ductility of the components is reduced, and the tensile properties of the heat-affected zone of the weld are weakened.
