MicroRNAs, a class of small, non-coding single-stranded RNAs that regulate post-translational translation of a target gene, have found microRNAs that have shown extremely important biological functions in cancer, cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Diabetes has now become the most serious threat to human health diseases, especially the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes has become a research focus. Abnormal adipocyte differentiation is a major cause of type II diabetes and insulin resistance. To further elucidate the mechanism of action of microRNAs on adipocyte differentiation may find new targets for the treatment of diabetes. This review will describe and predict the potential effects of microRNAs on adipocyte differentiation from the interaction of microRNAs with adipocyte differentiation genes, nuclear hormone receptors and related signaling pathways.
