Latex interpenetrating polymer networks (latex IPNs) are a promising class of new polymer blends that draw the attention of not only the benefits of a general interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) but also their ease of processing. Since latex IPN emulsions can be used as coatings, it is of great importance to study their film-forming properties. There is no systematic report on this work. Only P. Penczck mentioned in an article that the amount of cross-linking agent in latex IPN should not exceed 0.4% of the weight of the component, otherwise the film-forming property of the system will be seriously affected. In this paper, firstly, the film-forming property of polystyrene / polybutyl acrylate (PS / PnBA) latex IPN was studied experimentally, and then the factors influencing the film formability of latex IPN were theoretically studied
