In recent years, construction of airports in China has experienced a new high tide. Airports in some cities have been completed, such as that of Nanjing, Shanghai and Beijing. Schemes of foreign architects were adopted in designing these airports. The author thinks these designs lack new ideas and connotations of Chinese culture. They give the impression of buying out of date garments from a department store. This triggered the authors comments on the present day Chinese architecture. The author is of the opinion that the great economic development in China has brought the Chinese architects a rare opportunity. They should cherish it.
