王鸿祯,地质学家,1916年11月生,山东苍山人。1939年毕业于北京大学地质系。1947年获英国剑桥大学博士学位。历任北京大学教授兼秘书长、北京地质学院教授兼副院长、武汉地质学院教授兼院长、中国古生物学会理事长、第七、八届全国政协常务委员。现为中国地质大学教授,国际地科联地质科学史委员会副主席。1980年当选为中国科学院院士。研究领域包括古生物学、地层学、古地理学、前寒武纪地质学、大地构造学和地质学史。主要研究成果是:建立了四射珊瑚的系统分类和演化阶段,出版了《中国古地理图集》,提出了构造阶段的观点,形成了全球构造活动论和历史发展阶段论相结合的地球史观。提出了地球史上不同级别的节律及其可能的天文控制因素,以及地球演化中曾发生阶段性有限膨胀的设想。发表论文180余篇,出版专著等20余种。曾获国家自然科学一等奖(集体,1982年)、二等奖(1987,1991年),国家教委高校教材特等奖(1988年),何梁何利科技进步奖(1994年),李四光地质科学奖特别奖(1996年)。
Wang Hongzhen, geologist, born in November 1916, Shandong Cangshan. 1939 graduated from Peking University Department of Geology. In 1947 by the University of Cambridge Ph.D. Former Peking University professor and secretary general, professor and vice president of Beijing Institute of Geology, Professor and Dean of Wuhan Institute of Geology, chairman of the Chinese Society for Paleontology, seventh, eighth CPPCC Standing Committee. He is currently a professor of China University of Geosciences and vice chairman of the Geoscience History Commission of the International Union of Geological Sciences. In 1980 was elected academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. His research interests include paleontology, stratigraphy, palaeogeography, Precambrian geology, tectonics and geology. The main research results are as follows: The system classification and evolution stage of the coral are established, the “China Ancient Geography Atlas” is published, the viewpoint of the construction phase is put forward, and the earth history combining the global tectonic activity theory and the historical development phase theory is formed View Proposed different levels of rhythms in earth history and their possible astronomical control factors, as well as the tentative expansion of the earth that had taken place in the evolution. Published more than 180 papers, published more than 20 kinds of monographs. He won the First Prize of National Natural Science (collective, 1982), the second prize (1987 and 1991), the State Education Commission high school teaching materials special award (1988), He Liang He Li Scientific and Technological Progress Award (1994), Li Siguang Geological Science Award Special Award (1996).
