Mr. Xiaoming Wang, who is the veteran in the Fairy Tale Book world, has made great achievements and brought children the wonderful individual work of Mood Fairy Tale in 21st century, refreshing young readers. Apparently, Mood Fairy Tale is a new concept which different from traditional sense. Mr. Xiaoming Wang explains: “I have always thought, there should be some high and farther story in contemporary Chinese fairy tales. Only be touched by something, somebody, somewhere in life, feel from heart then it’s true fairy tale.” Now the “Wang xiaoming fairy tale picture book” is his retrospective among his ten years work. The biggest feature of Mood Fairy Tale is that the book is permeated with the game spirit. Highlights in the followings:

A’Wu would like to have some vegetables but took mimosa by accident, so that became quiet and shy. So the mimosa means sensitive plant by literal.

Again, as in The Bird Bought A Airplane, Mr. bird wants to buy the airplane, for the reason of: “Will not be afraid of sun or rain, and let it’s tired wings rest if bought an airplane.” The Birds have their own plans and life changed since then: they moved their home from the tree to the land for keeping the plane; because the plane became their car, so that their wings and feet all degenerated; they were on “Fortune” magazine and became famous, interviewed by press and fashion salon; to avoid crash in the air, “must keep distance far as the fight couple do, then become the divorced couple: one heads to west the other heads to east, so that live a separate life”, they will always worry about other’s safety. Then they realized that: buying the planes goes contrary to their original wishes. Hippo Drinks Coffee is the story about little animals help the hippo who drinks too much coffee to fall asleep, hippo help other little animals listen to class, do homework. This kind of helping each other established in the ridiculous logic, very ironic.

Toad’s Shangri-La is responding to the frogs who lost their homes due to ecological damage opened their mouths to pick on the water from the air conditioner of the second floor. The Room With No Lights is about “not only urban, even suburb cannot see fireflies”. Luo’er turned off the lights of the room in order to invite the fireflies to home. Fireflies in the forest all came over listen to his story, Luo’er with fireflies around him, lightening. The work made reflection of modern civilization.

It turned out to be that rabbit mom’s self-esteem, she didn’t want to accept others’ help so people arranged this auction for her so that she could accept. In Snow Station, Children were familiar with the Santa appearing among the crowds of the train ticket station. He wants to get a ticket, to make a mother’s wish of seeing her children come true. But he could stand for too long in the line, he wants to find a quiet station. However he came to a discarded station with no tickets to be sold. And miracle came, a train stopped, because “the Santa in red suit looks like the traffic lights”. The captain jumped off the train, saw the Santa, promised to help him. This story is very warm and moving.
“Happiness” is another main theme of Mood Fairy Tale. The typical work is Happy Tire. A huge tire running from the mountain was being taken as a toy by the animals, they use is as rubber boat, floating in the water. They take it as a flywheel, bounced into the sky. When it running down the valley, it’s like the roller coaster. Animals had a lot of fun with it, exciting and happy. The big tire became the happy source for them. Repairman found there was a tire missing, he didn’t take it back put it on the car, he removed all the tires and said to let them all become the happy tires. This story tells people, to look for happy and to release happy is the most important thing in the life.
