香港,面积约1061平方公里,人口600余万,粮食、蔬菜、猪、牛、羊等生活必需品基本靠祖国内地供应。党和政府对此一贯非常重视,新中国成立不久,我国政府就开始了对港澳鲜活冷冻食品的供应,长年不断。1961年秋,铁道部和外贸部就保证及时、均衡为香港市场供应食品一事召开专门会议,决定创办“供应港澳鲜活冷冻商品快运货物列车”,直达香港。
Hong Kong covers an area of about 1061 square kilometers with a population of more than 6 million. Basic necessities such as food, vegetables, pigs, cattle and sheep are supplied by the Mainland. The party and government have always attached great importance to this. When the founding of New China began, our government started the supply of fresh and frozen food to Hong Kong and Macao for many years. In the autumn of 1961, the Ministry of Railways and the Ministry of Foreign Trade held a special meeting on guaranteeing timely and balanced supply of food to the Hong Kong market. It decided to set up a train to supply fresh and frozen goods express cargo in Hong Kong and Macao to Hong Kong.
