In the mouse sexual cycle, the number of pituitary gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) receptors varies widely. However, the number of GnRH receptors in daytime was stable after castration of estradiol (OVX-E 2) in mice. But dropped sharply and briefly in the afternoon before the LH peak. The authors used this model to observe the effect of subcutaneous injection of morphine (Mo) or naloxone (NAL for anti-opioid peptides) on the number of GnRH receptors in the pituitary gland.
