In this paper, the torque characteristics and tillage capacities of three types of rotary trowels (Japanese type C, European type C and European type L) commonly found in Thailand were studied in order to develop a rotary tillage suitable for pre-sowing in Thailand Knife. Experiments were carried out in a laboratory soil tank. In sandy loam and clayey soils, the blade advance speeds were 0.034 and 0.069 m / s, respectively, while the spindle speeds were 150, 218, 278 and 348 r / min. The results show that the shape of the blade affects the torque characteristics and the specific energy of farming. For Japanese blades, the tilling torque was increased less than the other two blades due to the first soil plowed in its longitudinal curvature. For European blades, the bending of the longitudinal and top ends first acts on the soil. The cyclical changes in torque are noticeable, especially for the two European blades. Experiments show that the Japanese C-blade farming highest than the highest, while the European L-shaped blade farming lowest than the lowest.
