海洋质子磁力梯度仪是本世纪七十年代发展的新型海洋磁测仪器,用于海洋磁力梯度测量。用它进行磁场测量时可不受地磁场日变化,磁暴的影响,不用做地磁测量的时变改正,不必设置日变站,既能节省经费又能提高测量精度,这对海洋磁力测量是很有意义的。应用磁力梯度值能更好地分辨磁异常与地质构造界面,更便于解释浅层地质构造,寻找海底埋藏的异物(沉船、海底电缆、输油管等),所以磁力梯度测量广泛应用地球物理测量和海洋地质勘探各个方面。目前国外许多海洋机构都采用此种仪器。
