十九世纪中叶以后,由于明治维新前后日本社会的动荡和维新以后价值观的变化,有相当数量的中国古书以及汉籍和刻本从古寺、旧家中流散而出,相当一部分通过各种渠道传入中国,如杨守敬从日本带回大量善本旧籍的事例就是其中最为著名的。与此同时,活跃于中日两国之间的书商的商业活动也是汉籍回流中国的一个重要渠道。本稿利用前人未曾注意的中日两国文献资料及乐善堂的销售目录《乐善堂书目》,对岸田吟香与他经营的乐善堂在中国的图书出版和贩卖活动加以考察,在分析乐善堂出版销售活动的基本特征及其社会文化背景的同时,对十九世纪中叶以后日藏汉籍回流中国现象中商人的作用进行了探讨。
