埃德加·德加是印象派群体的核心成员,他的绘画经历了从学院派新古典主义到现代主义的转变,其经典风格成了印象派的代表。学界对他的讨论很大程度上也几乎全部围绕印象派话题展开。他在印象派风格之外的实验性探索方面的成就一直以来被国内学界所忽视。文章通过详细考察德加在技法上孜孜以求的探索创新,梳理他在“媒介探索”、“重复和变体”以及“从作品到过程”的艺术观转变这三方面的特征,力图突破德加研究的印象派话语框架,发掘他在20世纪现代绘画理念方面的贡献与成就,呈现德加在印象派之外的另一侧面。
