Objective: To understand the status of trace elements such as zinc, iron, copper, calcium, magnesium, manganese and lead in children with rotavirus enteritis. Methods: A total of 173 children with rotavirus enteritis were enrolled in the study. At the same time, healthy children in the same period were selected as the normal control group, and the levels of serum zinc, iron, copper, calcium, magnesium, manganese and lead were determined respectively. Results: The levels of serum zinc, iron, copper, calcium, magnesium and manganese in rotavirus enteritis group were significantly lower than those in normal control group (P <0.05), but there was no significant difference between the two groups (P> 0.05). The levels of serum zinc, iron and calcium in children with rotavirus enteritis were negatively correlated with the scores of Vesikari disease (P <0.05), while the levels of copper, magnesium, manganese and lead were not significantly correlated with the scores of illness (P> 0.05) . Conclusion: There may be some common changes of trace element metabolism in children with rotavirus enteritis, and it is necessary to monitor the trace elements in this kind of children in clinical work.
