戴本孝是明末清初画坛一位极具文心的山水画家,更是一位充满艺术才情的文人。由于清代文字狱等特殊时代环境的影响加之历来研究者的狭隘与局限,更由于那些动辄以三六九等的概念化与浅尝辄止的浮躁艺术史眼光,使得像戴本孝这样一批画人的艺术个性和历史地位未能得到张扬和重视。当年,黄宾虹先生有感画史以耳代目、人云亦云的流弊深广,即有“画史必须重评”之宏愿。我认为,戴本孝的绘画艺术,渐江的冷峻、梅清的绵连、石涛的野逸、程邃的苍润、查士标的散淡,皆蕴藉其中,而朴茂一境皆出诸人之上,可谓集“黄山画派”之大成。即以戴本孝列黄山画派之首亦不为过。倘若多读戴本孝的作品,尤其小品册页,相信与我会有同感。一戴本孝(1621~1693年),字务旃,号鹰阿山樵,安徽和州(今和县)人。父戴重抗清受创后绝粒殉节,年仅45岁。本孝坚守先德之志,布衣终老,一度隐居迢迢谷鹰阿山中。
