Ashraf Mahmood Wathra, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Pakistan, said in his speech that the global financial crisis has caused most emerging market economies to experience severe economic challenges in the near future. First, the crisis is broader, more profound and more complex. In emerging markets, in particular, relying on exports, as the demand and exports of the advanced economies decline, the export yields of electronic products and other labor-intensive products have dropped, the unemployment rate has risen, and wages, consumption and living allowances have dropped. Second, the flow of foreign capital has been reduced, and the foreign exchange market is under greater pressure. Third, the global crisis has led to large fluctuations in international commodity prices and posed challenges to the management of monetary management, especially inflation management and inflation expectations.
