南盘江流量小、滩多、坡陡、流急,从开远小龙潭至北盘江汇入口蔗香480多公里河道,若采用整治工程措施,以300马力100吨机驳为通航标准,需整治滩险150余处,修盘驳公路30余公里,盘驳码头六座,绞滩设施五十余处,通航保证率仅25%左右,年通过能力约两万吨,运输成本0.69元/吨公里。显然,用炸礁,疏浚的方法来实现南盘江通航机动船队是不可能的,只能采取梯级渠化工程措施,方能达到目的。天生桥的雷公滩、长约13公里、落差178米,天生桥两级电站水头共350米,航运规划已定为陆路驳运,本文着重就南盘江开远小龙潭至天生桥独立航道段的渠化工程有关的梯级水头、梯级布置原则、船舶过坝方式等问题进行初步探讨,以供有关部门研究参考。
