Albizia inopinata (Harms) G.P. Lewis is widely distributed in Brazil and preliminary pharmacological experiments have demonstrated its central nervous system (CNS) inhibition. Based on this, the authors studied the inhibitory effect of the total alkaloid extraction fraction (FLA) of the plant leaf on CNS. The dried leaves of the plant were crushed and then percolated with 70% ethanol. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure and the residue was treated with conventional acid and alkali to obtain FLA. FLA consists of three macrocyclic spermine alkaloids. The authors used Swiss mice to study FLA activity energy
