Recently, the team of researcher Wang Guirong from the Institute of Plant Protection, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences has made important progress in the research on the synthetic routes of plant defensive terpene DMT and TMTT. This study revealed the key terpene synthase genes involved in the synthesis of DMNT and TMTT pathways in Lima beans and successfully transferred them into rice to develop novel insect-resistant rice. The research was recently published online in the journal Plant, Cell & Environment. It is reported that plant terpene homologue (E) -4,8- two
