消费者国际有200多个成员消费者组织,遍及80多个国家.其作用之一是促进消费者的环境权利和责任.消费者组织促进可持续发展与消费可以有四种基本方式:教育消费者并使之消息灵通;倡导消费者的利益;测试产品的环境影响并发表测试结果;和进行可持续性问题研究.消费者组织可能通过倡导在能耗或运输等领域采取特定行动来影响政府政策.
Consumer International has more than 200 member consumer organizations in more than 80 countries. One of its functions is to promote consumers’ environmental rights and responsibilities. There are four basic ways in which consumer organizations can promote sustainable development and consumption: educating consumers and making them well-informed; promoting the interests of consumers; testing the environmental impact of products and publishing test results; and conducting research on sustainability issues. Consumer organizations may influence government policies by advocating for specific actions in areas such as energy consumption or transportation.
