This article describes eight laboratory tests using a cyclone to select fine-grained magnetite (-10 μm) from the Pittsburgh Energy Technology Research Center of the U.S. Department of Energy to study the effects of selecting 600 × 38μm coal flow characteristics. Earlier experiments were conducted with the same medium (76 mm) cyclone in the case of lower medium concentrations (1.30).
