According to the U.S. “Business Daily”, the demand for world snacks and convenience foods has risen sharply. The United States exports such popular snacks as cookies and pretzels, as well as tortillas, plums, guacamole and beef jerky. The export volume is rapidly approaching 10 Billion dollar mark. According to the Snack Food Association in Alexandria, Virginia, Canada and Mexico are the largest buyers, and the two together account for about a third of U.S. exports. The second largest export area is Western Europe, accounting for 1/5 of the U.S. exports. Followed by Japan, mainland China. Taiwan and Hong Kong, accounting for 18.5% of the total. Other Asian countries, as well as Australia and New Zealand, accounted for 12.5%. Latin America accounted for 9.6% of the market with the most growth potential in Asia Pacific and Latin America. Other new markets include the United Arab Emirates, where the current snack food market is estimated to have sales of 30 million U.S. dollars and is estimated to be in the next five years
