回顾西方器乐百年发展历史,欧美国家的小号演奏无论在声音、技术等方面都有了全新的进步与发展,尤其美国更是处在世界的领先地位。美国多所著名的音乐院校中,如朱利亚音乐学院、意斯特曼音乐学院、南加州大学音乐学院及印第安那大学音乐学院,在这些著名的艺术院校中都曾培养出了闻名于世界的小号演奏家。当代最著名的小号演奏家中埃伦·乌祖蒂毕业于意斯特曼音乐学院,托马斯·斯蒂芬毕业于南加州大学音乐学院。美国一些一流交响乐团的的小号首席都曾在朱利亚音乐学院学习过,如纽约爱乐乐团现任小号首席菲利蒲·史密斯,波士顿交响乐团小号首席查利·斯鲁特。再有印地安那大学音乐学院的小号教学水平多年来在“爱达姆”教授的带领下,一度在全美起到了非常重要的影响。
Recalling the history of Western instrument development for a hundred years, the trumpet performances of Europe and the United States have made new progress and development both in sound and technology. In particular, the United States is still at the leading position in the world. Among the famous American music schools, such as the Giulia Conservatory, the Butman Conservatory, the Conservatory of Music at the University of Southern California and the Conservatory of Music at the University of Indiana, have fostered well-known in the world Trumpet player. Ellen Usudge, the most famous trumpet player of his time, graduated from the Conservatory of Music, and Thomas Stephan graduated from the University of Southern California Conservatory of Music. Trumpet principals at some of the top orchestras in the United States have studied at the Giulian Conservatory, such as Phil Smith, current trumpet chief of the New York Philharmonic, and Charles Sluter, trumpet chief of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. In addition, the teaching level of the Indiana University Conservatory of Music has been playing a very important influence in the United States for many years under the leadership of Professor Idam.
