花菜味美价廉,炒菜制药两周全,补肾健脾益肠胃,防癌强身可保健。花菜学名花椰菜,何时传到中国尚不可考,据传地中海东岸曾广为栽种,传入中国江浙、两广地区后迅速在南北各地广为种植,产量颇大。在德国生物学家科赫发现结核菌前后,肺结核曾有大流行,欧洲人便用花菜汁制成治疗咳喘的药物,便宜而有效,称为“穷人的医生”。现代中国又用包心菜提取维生素U治胃病,这两种菜真像一对十字花科植物的孪生兄弟,为医学做了重大贡献。
