Canadian writer Margaret Lawrence novel “Soothsayer” is a classic in contemporary Canadian literature. The novel’s breakthrough on the narrative theme and narrative form embodies the author’s thinking on women’s pursuit of the right to freedom and equality. Using the theory of “female writing” by the French feminist theorist Elena Sissu, this article analyzes the multiple, divergent and flowing female subject culture constructed by the body writing and the non-linear narration in the novel, and reveals that the author opposes the gender Opposition to the Binary and Advocacy for Gender Identity and Social and Cultural Diversity.
