Recently, we read over a dozen books on the issue of World War II and found that a few foreign scholars hold a derogatory or even ridiculous attitude towards the status and role of the Chinese anti-Japanese war in the world anti-fascist war. The English scholar Liddell Hart did not mention the Chinese anti-Japanese battlefield in the 600,000-strong “World War II History,” but wrote the section “Japan Attacks Hong Kong” on Hong Kong, a British colony, The Chinese war of resistance against Japan was completely eliminated from the history of World War II, fully revealing the face of the veteran colonialists. The history books of World War II of the former Soviet Union held a low-key attitude towards China’s anti-Japanese war. Some U.S. history books of World War II credit the victory of the Chinese anti-Japanese war to two atomic bombs in the United States. This essay makes a brief comment on the evaluation of China’s battlefield in “World War II” written by Henry I. Mitchell, authoritative historian of World War II.
