Long long ago， there were ten suns in the sky. It was very， very hot. One day， a man named Hou Yi used his arrows to shoot down nine suns.*
The queen of heaven（王母娘娘） was very happy. She gave Hou Yi a bottle of elixir（長生不老药）. But Hou Yi didn’t want to leave his beautiful wife* Chang’e. So he didn’t eat the elixir and asked Chang’e to keep* it.
Hou Yi had many students. One student’s name was Peng Meng. Peng Meng was a bad man. He wanted to get the elixir.
One day， Hou Yi went hunting* with his students. Peng Meng pretended（假装） to be ill* and stayed at home. And then he went to Hou Yi’s house. He asked Chang’e to give him the elixir.
Chang’e didn’t want to give the elixir to Peng Meng， so she ate it at once（立刻）. And then she flew* to the moon.
At night， Hou Yi went back home. But he couldn’t find his wife and the elixir. He ran out. The moon was very bright*. He looked up and saw Chang’e. She was there， on the moon！
