“树瘤”这个词儿,来自上海市实验学校校长、语文特级教师徐红的同名文章,收录在她的教育随笔集《护“长”容短》中。文章这样描写“树瘤”:“校园里有一棵树,我不知道叫什么名,长得特别奇怪,所有的枝条都打着结儿,像裸露的肿瘤,鼓胀着,盘缠着,样子不甚好看。每次路过,我都痛惜它为什么没有柳树那么光滑,槐树那么挺拔,榆树那么美丽。心中老在猜想,它是不是在小树苗时就这个样子?”这是一株病态的树,长满了“树瘤”。文章结尾,作者追问:“我真得要问问专家它为什么会长成这个样,是天生的?基因异化?抑或师傅没有好好地修剪它?”
