战后英国成人教育与英国文化研究的起源和发展有着密切的关系。文化研究的威廉斯、霍伽特和汤普森都曾长期任教于英国成人教育,并在从事成人教育期间相继推出了公认的文化研究奠基作品。在当时的历史条件下,他们根据现实的需要和客观的条件,采用跨学科研究的方法深入研究流形的文化现象,这种方法后来成为了文化研究的主要研究方法。与此同时,他们还在自己的教学和研究中鲜明地表明自己的政治倾向,积极参与当时的政治活动。这些都为后来的文化研究奠定了坚实的基础。
The postwar adult education in Britain has a close relationship with the origin and development of British cultural studies. Williams, Hogarth, and Thompson, both of the cultural studies, have long taught English adult education and have since established adult education as the foundational foundation of cultural studies. Under the historical conditions of the time, they used interdisciplinary research methods to conduct an in-depth study of manifold cultural phenomena in light of realistic needs and objective conditions. This method later became the main method of cultural studies. At the same time, they also clearly demonstrated their political orientation in their own teaching and research and actively participated in the political activities of the time. All these laid a solid foundation for later cultural studies.
