In 2001, Professor Qiu Maoru put forward the concept of zero translation in order to solve the translation dilemma caused by linguistic differences. The approach was to translate without translation, which means zero translation. However, this concept did not rule out the translator’s cognitive intervention in the translation process. Can not be considered a true “zero” translation. This paper reexamined the concept of zero-translation from the perspective of cognitive linguistic prototype category perspective, taking into account the translator’s cognitive factors, which can open up new ideas for clarifying this concept.
