In the structural design of buildings, the resistance R of structural members is a function of the strength f of the structural material and the geometrical parameter a. In modern safety theory, both are considered in terms of random variables. In addition to the strength of the material in the design, other mechanical properties of the structural material, such as elastic modulus, ultimate deformation, etc., are sometimes involved. These should also be considered in terms of random variables. In this lecture, we focus on the knot as a random variable
