Paddy rice is one of the most serious tropical diseases in Asia. It is a complex disease caused by the combination of the rice Donggeru baculovirus (RTBV) and the rice tunglobular virus (RTSV). The virus is effectively transmitted in a non-persistent manner by the Nephotettix virescens (Hibino et al. 1979). However, the spread of RTBV can only be synchronized with RTSV before or after two-point leafhoppers.
