According to our country’s resources and the theory of heat-resistant physics, we put forward a new direction of development of heat-resistant alloys in 1956 - the iron-tungsten-silicon system. The main purpose of this alloy system is to (1) hope to focus more attention on the development of refractory metal such as tungsten, which will radically increase the permissible operating temperature. (2) We hope to focus more attention on ferritic alloys, and we think ferritic alloys will be excellent heat-resistant alloys like austenitic alloys. We did some research on iron-tungsten-silicon systems in a relatively short period of time. Although not yet comprehensive and careful enough, we fully affirmed the significance of this system. It is promising and may become our own superalloy system one. At present, efforts should be made to make the alloy of this system used in our country’s industry as soon as possible.
