The 2007 Nobel Prize in physics was awarded to French scientist Albert Fer and German scientist Peter Greenberg for the contribution they made to the discovery of the giant magnetoresistance effect (GMR). The hard disk has been used for the past 10 years. Zoomed out to the size of a single stamp, storage capacity increased by a factor of 50. From MP3s to digital cameras to laptops, their storage has greatly improved the capabilities of data that are closely related to our daily lives. In the breakthrough of hard disk technology, and the invention of this technology comes from “giant magnetoresistance”
