The U.S.-made helmet sight enabled the F-16 pilots to launch an improved “rattlesnake” missile at a 67-degree off-axis angle. This trial shows that there will be major changes in how the U.S. fighters will short-range air-to-air hostesses and shoot down enemy aircraft soon. Now that the US Air Force and the Navy’s ordinary “rattlesnake” missiles are absolutely free from off-axis missiles for air combat. The technical validation was conducted for two years with the participation of Lockheed Fort Worth, Raytheon and Honeywell, mainly for launching an off-axis at Tyndall Air Force Base earlier this year Missile test.
