On June 27, media including Publishers Weekly from USA, Bookseller from UK, Books Weekly from France, Book Report from Germany, Publishing News from Brazil jointly issued the “Global Publishing Leaders 2014”. From this list, it can be seen that merger and acquisition, digital integration and globalization have become very common among major publishers.
For the Chinese side, the China Publishing Group and the China Education Publishing & Media Group ranked the 14th place and the 21st place, both higher than last year, with an annual income separately as $1.499 billion and $ 1.152 billion. Other two very likely Chinese publishers for this year, the Phoenix Publishing & Media Group and the China South Publishing & Media Group Co., Ltd. were not listed ultimately for their income having included printing, media and other business.
