The resources of high quality non-coking coal are more limited in India and most of the coal seams have obvious interbedded ore belt structures. During the mining process, these shale and rock-bearing ore belts are produced along with the coal so that the quality of the raw coal is mixed. At present, about 70% of such non-coking coal is consumed by power stations, and the impurities of these coal can be eliminated by some mechanical means.
