The book “Chen Yingshi’s Criticism,” co-authored by Yao Hui and Zhu Fusheng, was officially published. This is the third monograph on Chen Yingshi’s study published in mainland China since China adopted the policy of reform and opening up. For the complicated person of Chen Yingshi, over the past 30 years or so, there have been many affirmations in the history of the motherland’s mainland historians because of the well-known reasons for his dissatisfaction. This situation contrasts sharply with the commentary on the other side of the Straits during the old China. In Taiwan, the academic circles commented on Chen Yingshi’s succession and inherited the view of “Sun Yat-sen-Chen Yingshi-Chiang Kai-shek” of the Kuomintang in the old China and turned Chen Yingshi into a god. Until 1977, when Taipei’s “Chen Yingshi Memorial Series” was published on the eve of Chen Yingshi’s centenary, Taipei still regarded Chen as his party’s unity and placed him in the high position of “no KMT without Chen Yingshi”.
