泉州傀儡戏,古称“悬丝傀儡”,又名“线戏”,俗称“嘉礼戏”,今名“提线木偶戏”,是我国最古老的木偶剧种。在漫长的剧种艺术发展过程中,不但形成了精湛丰富的表演艺术和精美独特的造型艺术,还形成了别具一格的剧种音乐——“傀儡调”。“傀儡调”音乐既有丰富多彩的曲牌唱腔,又拥有“傀儡调”(又名“压脚鼓”,或称“南鼓”)、“钲锣”等古老稀有的打击乐,及与之相应的一整套打击技法。古老的“傀儡调”音乐及打击乐,对本地区的其他剧种,如“布袋戏”、“打城戏”、“高甲戏”甚至“梨园戏”的音乐,都曾产生过深远的影响。因此,探讨泉州傀儡戏“压脚鼓”及其他打击乐器的演奏技法,对了解泉州地方戏曲音乐,确是不可忽视的重要一环。
