Emily Dickinson is one of the most important American poets, who has been hailed as a poet equal to Walt Whitman. This paper provides an analysis of the repressive, destructive and masculine feature of the volcanic imagery in Dickinson’s four po-ems. Through the analysis, readers can have a channel into Dickinson’s repressed emotion and feminist awareness.
