据安徽省临泉县益农作物研究所韦子贵报道:巨型白豆是该所从引进的日本大菜豆变异株中选育而成的豆类高产新品种。该豆具有易种易管,生长势强,菜、粮兼用,用途广泛等特点。经近年在多点试验、示范和推广,均表现较好的农艺性状。作菜用一般亩产鲜荚3500~4000kg,若用于采收干豆,亩产在350~400kg,高可达600kg。该品种株高80cm,矮生直立,根系发达,枝繁叶茂,花淡紫色。单株一般分枝6~8个,呈扇形,三叶复出,互生。单株绪荚20~50个,用于采籽老荚多在8~20个,荚长25~35cm,宽3~4cm,厚1.5cm,每荚结籽9~15粒,多者可达17粒,籽洁白色,肾形,百粒重150g左右。嫩荚是一种营养丰富的蔬菜。富含人体所需的蛋白质、氨基酸
